Any forum member can be assigned as a moderator to any forum or number of forums allowing them to act on your behalf keeping the peace and ensuring members behave themselves. You can create & edit moderators using the drop down list options aligned right of each forum within Manage Forums » Manage Forums or by using the Manage Forums » Manage Moderators page.
Moderators can be associated with either moderated or unmoderated forums. Permissions (edit posts, delete posts etc) defined when creating a moderator will override any permissions within the users permission set. For example if the current permission set does not allow editing of posts, but the member is associated as a moderator to the forum with permission to edit posts the moderator permissions will be used and editing posts within the forum for the user will be allowed. Moderator permissions work separately from and override permission set permissions. Moderators don't have to be a member of the Moderator member group however it's often a good idea to group your moderators into a single member group. This can help identify moderators and assist with controlling global permissions available to moderators via permission sets.
Creating a Forum Moderator
To associate a forum member as a moderator for a forum go to, Manage Forums » Manage Forums. This will display a list of available forums, you should use the Moderators drop down list to create a new moderator for a specific forum as shown below...
Editing a Forum Moderator
To edit existing forum moderators go to, Manage Forums » Manage Forums.
This will display a list of available forum, you should use the Moderators drop down list to select the existing moderator you wish to edit as shown below...
Deleting Moderators
To delete existing forum moderators go to, Manage Forums » Manage Moderators. This will display all moderators and their associated forums. You can delete forums for each moderator using the check boxes below the username. You should tick which moderator & forum associations you wish to delete and use the Delete Selected option at the bottom of the Manage Moderators page, this is shown below...
Creating & Editing Forum Moderators
The options below are available when creating or editing forum moderators.
- Moderator username
The name of the user that will become the moderator. You must provide a valid username of an existing member. - Forum to moderate
Select the forum you would like the user to moderate. You can quickly propagate changes to all child forums by ensuring the "Tick to add / update this moderator in all child forums" is checked. If you wish to quickly associate a moderator with all forums use the "All Forums" option. If you wish to quickly associate a moderator to all forums within a forum category select the forum category and ensure you check the "Tick to add / update this moderator in all child forums" checkbox to add the category changes to the child forums. - Post & Topic Permissions
Can edit any topic? - Determine if the moderator can edit topics within the selected forums.

Can mass delete topics? - Determine if the moderator can delete multiple topics at once.

Can mass pin topics? - Determine if the moderator can pin multiple topics. Pinned topics appear at the top of the forum.
